Cake Stand in Oak

Oak is a very special material, especially when it is quarter sawn. This process of cutting the wood exposes the amazing patterns that you can see in this piece. These patterns are called medullary rays. These rays only appear when the wood is processed in this much slower and more selective manner. 
 
This cake stand appears to float and has tactile channel underneath that adds to feeling like you have a very secure grip on the piece when transporting it about.  This channel flows seamlessly into the wave detail around the edge.
 
A beautiful piece that will elevate any cake, but could equally be used as a centre piece for your table.
